Which year groups is this masterclass for?

Year 11 & Year 10 (Early Sitters). These sessions are designed for Year 11 as well as high-achieving Year 10 students who are fast-tracking and sitting their GCSE Maths early. Because both groups are taking the exact same papers on the same timeline, the masterclass focuses entirely on the advanced problem-solving, calculator techniques, and examiner insights needed to secure top grades.

• 4 hours of intensive GCSE Maths revision and exam preparation
• All resources provided
• Standalone sessions with no ongoing commitment
• Open to all GCSE students, whether you are a regular student at Shivali Maths Hub or joining for the first time
• No prior enrolment or assessment required
• Places are limited, and Bookings are strictly first come, first served.
• Sessions are prepaid and must be booked in advance

WHAT WILL BE COVERED?

1. Exam technique
   How to show working clearly, structure answers effectively, and secure method marks, even when the final answer is incorrect.

2. Maximising marks
   Practical strategies to gain additional marks and avoid common mistakes highlighted by examiners.

3. Officially marked GCSE exam scripts/ Exam Papers
   Detailed review of real GCSE student exam scripts that have been officially marked, helping students understand exactly how marks are awarded, where marks are lost, and what examiners are looking for.

4. Full-paper walkthroughs
   In-depth walkthroughs of complete GCSE Maths papers, including bespoke papers and resources created specifically for these masterclasses by Shivali Maths Hub.

5. Mental maths skills
   Explicit practice of mental maths techniques that are particularly useful in GCSE exams and often underused by students.

6. Calculator techniques
   For Calculator Papers 2 and 3, students will learn the calculator techniques and functions needed to work efficiently and accurately in the exam.

7. Advanced problem-solving and top-grade strategies
   
   

MASTERCLASS SCHEDULE

Masterclasses will run 5 times throughout the academic year:

• Friday, 30th October 2026
• February half term
• Easter break
• May half term
• Summer term

Each masterclass is a standalone session with a different focus. Content, questions and bespoke resources are carefully planned for each session, so there is no repetition. Students can attend multiple masterclasses throughout the year and will benefit from new exam techniques, problem-solving strategies and challenging questions each time.
